Fortune 500 enterprise · Anonymised · Innovation · 2025

Finding the market no one was looking at.

A new field adjacent to the company's core — spotted, sized, and turned into a business case leadership moved to pursue.

Role

Innovation Manager

Focus

Opportunity discovery

Output

Business case · 5-yr projection

The premise

The best opportunities are the ones nobody has noticed yet.

The company already held the capabilities to open an entirely new field — it simply hadn't connected the dots. The opportunity sat in a space the wider market was overlooking, and no one had recognised it was within reach. The work was to see the latent capability, prove the opportunity was real and sizeable, and make the case to move first.

The work

Discovery, end to end.

Connect the dots

Audited the company's existing capabilities and assets to establish what it could credibly build — the case for why this was ours to win.

Research & size

Studied the emerging field, mapped demand and the customers who would want it, and sized the market against realistic assumptions.

Model & make the case

Built a dynamic, pricing-driven business-value model and a five-year revenue projection, then framed it as one evidence-based opportunity for leadership.

The opportunity was always there. Someone had to see it.
